For all the time I’ve had a blog, I’ve had a blogroll. I’ve often found it difficult to maintain and I’ve never really been convinced by its effectiveness. So, I’m giving up the blogroll for a page of recommended links.
How is this different from a blogroll? Well, it’s going to give me the opportunity to say something about each link I recommend, it’s going to clean up the look of the blog, by getting rid of a relatively redundant widget, and it’s going to bring relevance and value to readers and writers alike.
So without further ado…
37 Days – Patti explains the story behind the blog so much better than I ever could, but what I will say is that 37 Days is quite possibly one of the most life-affirming blogs you are likely to come across on the internet. Joyful!
Abbey of the Arts – A slightly more recent discovery, Christine Paintner’s post just sings to my soul. She has such a poetic way of looking at life and it’s one that resonates with a powerful connection to the divine. Completely gorgeous.
A Yen For Paper – I know I could be accused of bias, but as this blog shows, my mum Hilary Leckridge is one extremely talented lady. She is a bookbinder who makes the most stunning artists books and journals. I’m so happy that she’s agreed to make specially commissioned journals for Divining Femininity!
Christine Kane – Christine, like Patti Digh, is based in Asheville NC, but her wisdom, her generosity and her words transcend geographic boundaries and take up residence in the heart. Her song How To Be Real moves me to tears every time I listen to it.
Confident Writing – Just one of Joanna Young’s many blogs, Confident Writing is about writing down, opening up and embracing life. Joanna writes with such warmth and such loving attentiveness that she sweeps you off into a world where dreams become possibilities.
Divining Femininity – One of my new projects which looks at helping women to develop their inner awareness in order to make sense of their lives, and to help them use their femininity as a positive force for change. Accompanying me in this endeavour are the divine Jackie Walker, Gill Taylor & Vena Ramphal – all of whom are listed here.
Heroes Not Zombies – My dad is the man who first introduced me to stories, to blogging and to photography – Bob Leckridge shares his view on the world, his thoughts on science, medicine & health and, of course, his beautiful photographs. Such an inspiration.
Jackie Walker – This is Jackie’s ‘learning space’ – her very own corner of the internet where she shares what she’s thinking, learning and dreaming. A deeply spiritually aware lady, her insight on life is endlessly fascinating. She’s also one of the ladies behind Divining Femininity.
Jamie Ridler – Queen of creativity, Jamie shares inspirational Full Moon dreamboarding, wishcasting and more. I also thoroughly recommend that you also subscribe to her podcasts – always such a fascinating insight into creative self-expression. She really has such a beautiful soul and it shines through all she does.
Janice Cartier – Jan is painter and a writer, whose work is like the call and echo of a woman exploring her art and surrendering her heart to the answers that flow from her paintbrush. After reading her words, I always want to rush off and paint!
Life’s Little Inspirations – One of the very talented ladies behind Sirius Graphix, Wendi Kelly writes this beautiful blog all about inspiration. She is wonderfully community-focused and this comes through in the way that she writes and the way she interacts with her readers – a true gem.
Location Independent – The brainchild of Lea & Jonathan Woodward, Location Independent helps people escape the rat-race and live the lives they always dreamed of. If you want to shrug off the shackles of an office nine-to-five, and you want to travel the world whilst earning an income doing something you love, Lea & Jonathan are there to help you make it a reality. They don’t promise it’ll be easy, but they’ll guide you onwards & upwards.
Location Independent Parents – This is one of the sister sites to Location Independent which is specifically for those who wish to live the location independent lifestyle en famille. I, along with Sharon Hurley Hall and Lea Woodward write about the various issues facing a family that have taken the decision to be location independent, with my own posts specialising on home education.
Middle Zone Musings – You know how some people have that talent where their written words evoke their spoken voice in the minds of their readers? Robert Hruzek has that talent and it is such a treat to hear his stories over at MZM.
Owning Pink – Unapologetically feminine, this blog is written by a number of amazing women all sharing the mission to help you find & keep your mojo. Lissa Rankin, an OB/GYN doctor, is truly an amazing woman with a clear vision of helping women to discover their truth, in order to live empowered lives. Highly recommended.
Rise of the Innerpreneur – Terrific blog by Tara Joyce who explores the term “innerpreneur” as a “an entrepreneur who uses their business to find personal fulfillment (creatively, spiritually, emotionally) and create social change.” Tara’s work with this term really resonates with me, as I’m sure it does with many others, as it makes me think that I can be a business woman who can make a difference both to my own life and to the lives of others.
Seeded Earth – A gorgeous photography blog which positively vibrates with Bo Mackison’s love of the land. Through her lens, she connects to nature and then she shares that connection with her readers, and we are all richer for her having done so.
Rosa Say – With her wonderful way of looking at the world, Rosa talks story and brings Hawaiian values to all she does with such grace and generosity. A true treasure of the internet and essential reading for all those involved in business and leadership!
The Bookwright – Quite simply, Tom Evans helps people to find their words; he helps them to articulate their narratives and then he advises them on how to bring that narrative to an audience. At the forefront of technology’s place in the publishing industry, Tom’s author-centric approach ensures that whatever project you undertake with him, it is bound to benefit from his innovative methods.
The Calm Space – So much more than a blog, The Calm Space is an online magazine, owned & edited by Karen Wallace, that brings a sweet sense of serenity to all its readers. Every week, there’s a fresh installment of blog posts by resident Calm Space writers (myself included!) on topics that range from spirituality to books to relationships to design. A bit like treating yourself to a trip to a spa…
The Drawing Board – Whenever I see a post from Danette Relic pop up in my feed-reader, I just know it’s going to be a cracker. Such a beautiful person who is deeply in tune with processes of self-expression, and who is passionate about helping others to access that source which will inspire an out-flowing of personal creativity.
The Flourishing Muse – Every now and again you find a blog where the writing just blows you away – this was my experience exactly when I discovered Hiro Boga’s blog. Her poetry is breath-taking and she has a way of telling a story that just enraptures. Such a talented lady.
Vena Ramphal – A classically trained Indian dancer, and phd graduate in gender & dance studies, Vena is now a passion coach who works with people one-to-one concerning relationships & romance, as well as leading workshops, such as Tearing Up the Good Girl Script. Vena is also one of my co-collaborators on Divining Femininity and I am deeply honoured to be working with such an incredibe woman.
Words For Hire – Karen Swim has to be one of the sweetest women writing on the internet today. Not only is she supportive, bubbly, generous and deeply determined, but she is also an incredible writer. I can still remember posts of hers that have broken my heart open – truly, a lady to watch!
Your Sacred Purpose – An amazingly gifted astrologer, Gill Taylor, looks to the heavens and helps you to make sense of the celestial patterns and their effect upon our lives. She has also trained with Caroline Myss in Sacred Contracts, and she is also a co-collaborater on Divining Femininity.
