Tiny Surprises

Ever since my daughter learned to write, I’ve been discovering little notes just like this one left on my pillow, dressing table, my place mat at the dinner table.  They never fail to bring a smile and always make my heart feel full of love for this special little girl.

But just as I knew the day would come when my youngest would stop saying, ‘Goodnight and I love you and you look like a rose and smell like a rose’ everytime I put him to bed, I know the notes will stop one day.  But, that’s ok.  It means that each takes on a special significance and it ensures that I treasure every one of them.

What temporal things are you going to take the time to enjoy today?

  • Awwww! This is so totally cute! (I love the photo too.)

I don’t have kids. But I sometimes look at my parents (when I’m visiting them) and just take imaginary “snap shots” of moments of them laughing or being childlike and sweet. I know that I’ll want to hold those moments in my heart someday. So, I make sure I’m supremely present when I’m with them. (Even though we still have our “parent kid” getting triggered moments!)

  • I think taking snapshots with the mind is a great thing to do, Christine. As soon as we engage in taking snapshots, we find that we fully connect to the moment and instantly it generates a stronger resonance. This is actually one of the main reasons why I started taking pictures 2 yrs ago and why I try to encourage others to do so as well. Kind of an extension of the mind snapshot, but with the same principle at heart – to revere the moment and enjoy the connection.
Thank you so much for stopping by & leaving a comment :-)

  • Aww that’s so adorable. I remember opening my lunch box each day to find a little note from my mum in eyeliner on a napkin. It works both ways- send her notes too!!!

  • What a touching thing. My kids are away most of the time anymore, so I’ll have to look somewhere else. I’m thinking ice cream cone.

  • While eating a Baby Bonniebell (sp?) cheese on the train to Madrid, Raul made a rose out of the casing and handed it to me. I leave him little notes in things sometimes too. It keeps the magic alive!

  • What a wonderful memory, Ava – I’ll need to make a point of leaving more reciprocal notes!

Yes, Fred, savour it quickly before it melts ;-)

Aw that is very cute, Alex – thank you so much for sharing it!
