Have been up to the north of Scotland on holiday, and thought I’d share some of my photos:
This trip provided me and my family with a much needed break – fresh air, wide open spaces, and the rugged beauty of wild, rural, remote Scotland. If you want to see more, you can check out this Flickr set.

Between you and Joanna my dormant scot blood is rearing to come see where surely some of my ancient ancestors roamed. These are wild and beautiful and omg thank you for sharing them. Just breathtakingly stirring.

You have real skill with a camera.

Beautiful. It’s been 20 years since I was in Scotland. Kills me that I haven’t been back.

Great photos! I love the old house. Imagine living there and waking up to that view everyday? Makes me want to visit your part of the world even more. Someday!

Amy, these photos are SO gorgeous. They have been rattling around inside of me since I saw this post last night. This afternoon, I decided to book a flight to Glasgow for a weekend before we leave Barcelona at the end of June. With a family name like McDiarmid, you would think I would have done it sooner (I’m a 7th generation Canadian of Scottish and Irish descent)… but life and other European destinations just kept popping up. So I’m going and I’d like to thank you and your photos for inspiring me to act!
P.S. Congratulations on the completion of your dissertation and your successful defense.

You make me so proud to be Scottish, Amy. Beautiful. I’m going over to check out the others now.
Amy,
It’s been such a long time since my last visit to your blog (alas not Scotland). I believe this is first time I’m here since you’ve moved from wordpress. Lovely blog you have
Photos are absolutely gorgeous and it makes me so sad cause I had to cancel my trip to Orkney Islands which is scheduled for August. Well I hope another opportunity will appear sometime in the (preferably near) future.
Cheers!
