I am very new to the world of crystal therapy, but so far what I am discovering is really resonating with me. I recently bought Shirley O’Donoghue’s Crystal Therapy as I thought it would give me a good jumping off place to find out even more. The reason why it appealed to me so much is because it placed emphasis on the 7 chakras, providing visualisations for meditation using crystals for focusing on each individual chakra. I’ve been experimenting with meditation for a wee while now, and while I find the process of mind-clearing almost completely impossible, I have found that guided meditation based on visualisation works really well for me. This book combined this form of meditation with crystals which is why I find it particularly effective.
While the book mainly employs a limited tool box of crystals (Red Jasper, Carnelian, Golden Tiger’s Eye, Rose Quartz, Blue Lace Agate, Sodalite and Amethyst), I have found myself drawn to a few more usual crystals such as the Angel Aura Quartz (above) which I bought yesterday. It’s clear quartz bonded with silver and platinum and it really is stunning. Not sure my photograph does it justice! I’m so looking forward to meditating with this crystal. It has such beautiful colours reflected in its surface.
Another crystal that I bought relatively recently is a Gaia stone.
I chose this stone out of a whole range of crystals of all shapes, colours and sizes. In the process of buying it, I was told by the seller that it was a Gaia stone and that it was created following the eruption of Mount St Helen’s in 1980. Apparently whilst clearing the ash deposited by the pyroclastic flow from some of the affected homes, workers discovered that when they used a blow torch on the ash it transformed into this brilliant green crystal. I was astonished when I heard that, because ever since I was tiny, I’ve been fascinated by volcanoes and in particular pyroclastic flows. Anyway, upon hearing that, it instantly reminded me of this fantastic musical narrative from Fantasia 2000, and it seems particularly appropriate with the coming of Spring. Enjoy!
Do you have a favourite crystal? Do you have any recommendations for finding out more about crystal therapy? Have you ever visited a crystal therapist?

The green Gaia stone is very beautiful!
My favourite is probably haemetite, though that’s because of the way it looks, not it’s healing properties etc. I’ve never really looked into that side of things, although I’ve always found it quite interesting and intend to read up on it at some point!
