A beautiful post!! It is so true that we are surrounded by full of beautiful things. It is up to you to find them or miss them. I often take a walk from my house to a pier (I live very close to ocean). I always take the same path, but there is always something I find interesting. The ocean looks different everyday, and flowers and trees change too.

Nice.

I read this with my morning coffee and decided to head out to one of my favorite places near where I live, a <a href="http://blog.looseends.net/chesapeake-bay-retriever/finding-a-personal-sanctuary/" rel="nofollow">cottonwood grove next to a lake where I often kayak and hike</a>.

My dog, Chester, and got there in time to see three huge hawks wheeling and shrieking. Chester went for a little swim, and then we sat on a bench under a huge cottonwood, listening to the leaves falling around us.

After I opened my eyes and looked around at the golden light through the falling leaves, I was just reminded why this place is my favorite season after season.

I found your post at Liz Straus's party link list, and am glad to have discovered you!

Thanks Naveen - glad you're enjoying it all!

Lol, Briana, I completely get what you're saying, and I would never want to suggest that anyone put themselves in harm's way. However, this exercise doesn't need to be conducted outside; it could just as easily be done in a kitchen as a park. Have fun with it :-)

What a well-written post!

And, such a beautiful collection of photographs and interesting thoughts, too. Certainly helps in appreciating the "here and now"...

Keep up the good work, Amy.

It is amazing what we can find in our own gardens, isn't it, Amy?

I think maintaining that level of awareness, Mrschili, is the work of a lifetime. The very best of luck on your journey, my friend :-)

I think you're spot on, Robert! I did learn something, and I've written about it in <a href="http://liveslessordinary.wordpress.com/2008/06/05/the-passing-of-a-moment/" rel="nofollow"> today's post</a>.

It's a great quote, isn't it, Dianne? One of my favourites :-)

I've seen your funny shoes, Brett! I would imagine that they would connect you to the ground beneath your feet in a way a pair of regular trainers just couldn't.

It's good to slow down, Steamy Kitchen :-)

You are most welcome, Leslie. I hope you enjoy trying it out!

That's a beautiful suggestion, Livsimpl. Thank you so much for sharing it :-)

That looks like a delicious sandwich, Diane. I would love to have shared one with you :-)

I think you're quite right, Rosa, that this may prove too personal an exercise for some to feel comfortable about blogging it. But as a personal journaling exercise, I think the results could be really fruitful.
